Shopping centers, apartment complexes, hotels, gas stations and other property owners are obligated to keep their premises and approaches safe for customers and others from unreasonable risks and free from dangerous conditions on the premises. Property owners also have an obligation to provide adequate security measures and may be held responsible for injuries and deaths to patrons and guests for attacks, robberies and rapes occurring on the premises.
